What this number sends
Barkeep Sensors monitors refrigeration and draught equipment in bars, breweries, and restaurants. SMS on our toll-free number carries transactional equipment alerts only: temperature and pressure threshold breaches, back-to-normal notices, and monitoring hardware going offline. There is no marketing or promotional content of any kind on this number.
Opt-in is initiated by the recipient: they text ALERTS to +1 (844) 791-6767 from their own phone. Nothing is sent to a number before that.
SMS is optional and is not a condition of using Barkeep Sensors. Every alert is also delivered by app push notification and by email, and a venue can use the service in full with no SMS recipients at all.
How consent is given
- A venue owner or manager enters a staff member's name and mobile number in the Barkeep Sensors app, on the Alert Recipients screen.
- The number is stored in a pending state. It receives no text messages of any kind, and the person who entered it has no way to mark it as consented. Our system cannot send to a pending number.
- The app asks the venue to have that person text ALERTS to +1 (844) 791-6767 from their own phone.
- When that text arrives from the handset, and only then, the number becomes confirmed. Our reply names the venue the person is now receiving alerts for. The inbound text is the consent record, stored with its message ID and timestamp by our inbound webhook.
- If the handset never texts ALERTS, it is never messaged. No confirmation request, no reminder, nothing.
If a number texts ALERTS before any venue has entered it, our reply says so and nothing is enrolled.

Messages we send
{venue} is replaced with the enrolling venue's name. These are the exact strings our system sends, shown as templates rather than captured phone screens.

Opting out
Reply STOP to any message. This opts the number out permanently and globally, across every venue in our system, not only the one that entered it, and adds it to a suppression list that also blocks it from being re-entered.
Venue owners, our administrators and our support staff cannot reverse an opt-out. Only the handset itself can, by texting START.
- Recognised opt-out keywords: STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT.
- Recognised opt-in keywords: ALERTS, YES, START, UNSTOP.
A venue owner may also remove a recipient at any time in the app, which stops alerts to that number immediately.
Message frequency and rates
Alerts are event driven, sent only when a sensor crosses a threshold the venue configured or when monitoring hardware stops reporting. Volume is low, typically a few messages per month per recipient. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
